Structure: The Unsung Hero of Sales Success

Forget natural talent - the true predictor of sales success lies somewhere else.

In my years of sales leadership and sales performance improvement I've witnessed a recurring pattern in talented individuals who struggle to maintain consistent performance. It's never a lack of skill or charisma. The missing ingredient is Structure.

Everyone wants success, but most resist the structure that success requires. The discipline to operate in a highly structured way is the price of success, and resistance to that structure will ultimately doom real selling success and the economic abundance and freedom it brings. I’ve seen so much sales talent and sales potential die on this battlefield of discipline. A battlefield where individuality and ego wage war with structure and process.

Those that resist structure view it as a constraint on creativity. I once held this instinct myself, and from time to time it still pricks my consciousness. But I've learned that structure isn't a prison - it's a foundation for growth.

The most successful salespeople I've worked with aren't gifted - they're disciplined. They've learned to harness the power of structure:

1. They use their CRM religiously, turning it into an extension of their memory.

2. They follow a defined sales process, using it as a roadmap to guide prospects and control the conversation to an optimum outcome.

3. They engage in regular role-playing, treating it as essential practice.

"Success is nothing more than a few simple disciplines, practiced every day." - Jim Rohn

Structure actually amplifies creativity. When the fundamentals become second nature, your mind is free to innovate where it truly matters. But embracing structure requires humility. It means acknowledging that a proven system might outperform our "unique" approach. It's about setting aside our ego for the sake of results.

To those who pride themselves on being sales mavericks: your potential is immense of course… limitless. But to fully realize it, you need to leverage the power of structure. It’s not as seductive as individuality, but the outcome is sexy as hell. ❤️

I challenge you: Identify an area where you're not meeting your potential. Find a proven system for improvement. Commit to it with unwavering discipline for 30 days.

Don't overanalyze. Don’t personalize. Simply execute. The results will surprise you.

In my experience, structure isn't the enemy of sales success - it's the hero.
